TY Chemistry – 11 Week Module

This file is a complete resource to teach an 11 wee Chemistry module for transition year. It could be used for a science/STEM club either.
It contains a 56 slide powerpoint that contains weekly learning intentions and interactive task slides. It also contains a 17 page Microsoft word booklet to accompany the powerpoint with worksheets and tasks for each week.
It is a lab based module with tasks and experiments built into each weeks learning intentions.
The contents include:
Week 1: Lab safety and Acid and Base Indicators
Week 2: Red Cabbage indicator and Neutralisation
Week 3: Titrations
Week 4: CSI – Fingerprints
Week 5: Chemistry behind bath bombs
Week 6 & 7: Water Hardness Analysis (Inquiry based activity)
Week 8, 9, 10: Final Assessment – 3 different assessment options to choose from. Oral presentation rubric included.
Week 11: Final presentation week.

This is designed to be pretty much stand alone classes and very hands on with small amounts of chemistry theory build into the practical work. More or less theory can be added depending on the class cohort.
