TY Biology 8-Week Module: Nervous System

Description

This is an 8 week module ready to go for any TY biology class. All you need to do is print the workbook for each student and get the resources outlined in the teacher manual (all can be adapted to your needs)

**A lab is NOT required for this module**

This resources contains:

• A 18-page student workbook (PDF)
• A 57 slide PPT – Learning intentions for each week included, links to videos and task instructions
• A Teacher manual (designed to support each week with tips and materials needed for class)

The module is designed for 8 1 hour classes, however each class is jampacked and could easily be extended for a 1hour 20min class or even 10-12 weeks. The teacher manual also contains extension activities.

Module Overview:

• Week 1: Introduction to the Nervous System (Reaction Time Investigation)
• Week 2: Neurons – The Building Blocks (Model of a neuron)
• Week 3: The Synapse (Role play activity)
• Week 4: Neurotransmitters (Life Style analysis)
• Week 5: The Brain and Injuries (Research)
• Week 6: The Brain – Model Making
• Week 7: Project Work (Researching Nervous System Disorder)
• Week 8: Final Assessment and Documentary (MCQ and Netflix documentary (20mins))

• Assessment for the module is your choice. I will give 80% for a fully completed workbook and 20% to the end of module MCQ.
