I have started human health with my first years, and next week I will be covering human nutrition. Before we start the area of nutrition I am going to get the students to keep a food diary for 3 days over the course of the week. My plan is then to get students to analysis their own diets to identify the different macro and micronutrients within their own diets, once we have covered the material in class.
I am hoping this will make the whole concept more relatable to their own lives and keep up the engagement levels!

I also print out this summary table and students fill it in as we go through each food group during class. I then get them to stick it into their notes copies.
